Lots of Love

David spent a lot of this week either going over to his friend Paxton's house or having Paxton come over to our house after school.  It's been strange not staying to play on the playground after school, but he's having fun with his friend and Paxton really appreciates being able to play with a friend while he's in a cast.

Wednesday, was Valentine's Day.  We did heart shaped biscuits for breakfast and I got chocolates for everyone.  Dan got me a sweet card and flowers.  David had a "friendship party" at school that parents could come to, so Dan and I both went for a bit of it, though neither of us could stay long, and we weren't there at the same time.  lol

It was fun to visit, even just for a little bit.  And he was super sweet.  It was funny on the walk to school he spent most of it singing the "Peaches" song from the Mario Brothers Movie - but instead of singing about Peaches, he sang "mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy  I LOVE YOU!"  and wanted me to sing it using David.

Dan and I are still swimming a couple times a week.  We would have gone Thursday, but instead, we went over to play Dominion with some friends.  We had a good time together!

Friday I took and extended shift guarding to help with the first day of the State Championships.  While I stayed late, David went home on the bus with his friend Anna to hang out with her while I guarded.  He had a great time, and when I got off, I met them at the pool so David could swim for a while before heading home.  He had tons of fun and they said he was a great kid and he could come over again anytime.  When I told him that he said "anytime???"  and then I clairified that what they meant was any time it would work for both our families, and he said "oh..."  LOL

Friday, we went out on a date to see a friend from church in a play.  It was called "Over the River and Through the Woods."  The play was amazing and our friend did an amazing job - as did all the actors.  It was a small cast and a small venue, but the quality was just spectacular.  Dan and I had a wonderful time and also ran into the bishop and his wife there.  After we went out for dinner and had some really yummy Chineese food.  It was a great night!

Saturday we had a busy day.  Anna was lifeguarding in the morning for the State Championship swim meets.  Dan and Aaron and I went to Parkrose to play water polo.  We had a really fun time, but by the time I was done, my shoulder was bothering me.

David went over to his friend Andrew's house for a little birthday party.  He had a blast, and came home with lots of balloons and candy.  Aaron spent some time working for Brother Hanks and the rest of us got the house and food ready for the Encore Social.  At 5, kids started arriving to eat and play games.  I think it went well and they seemed to have fun.  They were all super sweet kids!

After, Anna and Evelyn and I went to Open Polo.  It was a lot of fun with a good turn out, but by the end, my shoulder was REALLY bothering me.  Enough that I put some ice on it.  I'm really not sure why it's hurting, but it's getting annoying.. :)

Today was great!  Aaron spoke in sacrament meeting and did a great job.  I played the organ and did a mostly ok job.  I also did the musical number and that went well.  Then we had primary and sunday school and of course choir after.  Anna had a YCL meeting and then we got together with Mike to practice for the concert next week.

In the evening, Sandi and James came over to play games and we had fun together.  We played the new game James got us called Rattus.  Aaron crushed us.  :)  Then we played 7 wonders and they made the mistake of letting me get all the green cards... : )

Swimming Districts

We've kept pretty busy this week.  David's friend Paxton broke his leg during the ice storms and is in a cast right now, so he hasn't been able to stay and play after school, so his parents have been happy to have a friend come over to play with Paxton while he is stuck in a cast on crutches.  So David has gone over a couple times this week to play for a bit after school.

Dan and I went swimming in the evening on Monday and Tuesday.  I think my endurance is increasing, but I'm still not that crazy about swimming laps.  :)  Water polo on Wednesday was much more fun - especially since we had a good size group!

Thursday, was a swim banquet to honor the senior and carb load before Districts.  We had a fun evening and then headed home.

Friday was the first day of Districts.  I was lifeguarding for most of it which was kind of fun - it meant I had a really great view and I got to eat in the hospitality room!  The kids all did a great job.  Anna was the alternate in both her events - so she had to be there on Saturday too.  Aaron also had to be there Saturday to swim the freestyle lap for the Medly Relay.

Their relay took 6th, and since top 8 get ribbons, he got a ribbon, but didn't realize it and was outside waiting for me.  :)  It was also fun to be there to cheer for all my water polo kids and see friends!

Saturday, Dan and I had planned to go to Parkrose to play water polo - but we found out when we got there that it was cancelled for Districts, so we ran by the adidias employee store instead.  :)

In the evening, I went to go scrimmage with other masters women and some of the high school girls.  I had a fun time - though I worry about what playing in an actual game.  Then i headed over to Tigard for open polo - by the end of 3 hours of playing, I was tired...  :)

Church today was wonderful - primary went great and though choir numbers were small - it was great!  We spent our afternoon playing games, and baking and talking to family.

Where Did January Go?

We've had a fun and busy week!  Regular busy - work and school, water polo and swimming.  But some fun busy too!  Anna has been especially busy with getting her lifeguard certification done.  She's doing awesome, but it's kept her busy!

On Tuesday, David's school was doing a special Literacy night.  The whole school was given a book at the beginning of the month and they were suppoed to read one chapter each school night.  David and I read the book together and mostly kept on schedule and finished in time for the big literacy night on Tuesday.  The book was about a snake and so the school had some one come in to show the kids some reptiles and teach them about them, then let them touch them.  David was SO excited about this event.  He had been talking about it all month!  Tuesday evening, we went to the school for pizza, then headed in for learning about reptiles and activities about reptiles.  David had a ton of fun and loved seeing his friends too!  I told Eileen about it and she got a bit jealous, so I sent her pictures.  :)

On Wednesday, David went over to his friend Paxton's house after school to play.  He usually gets to play with him on the playground, but Paxton broke his leg during the ice storms, so David has gone over a few times to play with him after school at his house.

Weather was especially nice at the end of the week, and David and I had fun playing on the playground with his friends - he was so excited to be able to do these monkey rings and skip one - he didn't quite make it to the next one, but still, I was surprised his arms were even long enough to make it this far!

I didn't mean this to be the week of all David pictures, but these were the only ones I took, and Dan didn't take any....   David cut a piece of cardboard off and wrote a message to me, then started leaving it all over the house for me to find.  He kept adding to it and taping it to a new place in the house.

Saturday was busy - Anna had lifeguard training.  Dan and Aaron and I went to Parkrose to play water polo - then had lunch after to celebrate the return of one of the regulars from Italy.  After that, we headed home, then Dan took Aaron to Brother Hanks' house to work for him.  Then Dan took James to work out at Connestoga and I took David and Evelyn there to swim.

Evelyn didn't really want to go to the winter formal, so instead she invited her friends over to come and hang out and play games instead of the dance.  She spent the morning cleaning the house (without even being asked) and cooking treats for the party.  They came over for dinner and we had Spaghetti and then they hung out playing games and chatting and having fun while Anna took off for the dance with some friends.  Aaron and I went to open polo.

Church today was great - it went well and choir went well, then we headed home to break the fast and Anna and Evelyn had youth orchestra.  Then they had Encore.  Sandi and James came over to play games and eat snacks.
