Mommy Moment

So today Eileen picked out "The Giving Tree" for her pre-nap-time story. So I went and sat down with the girls and began reading. Now let me say that I haven't read this book in quite awhile, in fact I haven't read it since becoming a mother, and let me tell you it sure opened the flood gates!! I would get to where I couldn't talk for the tears, and she would look at me kinda funny, and say "mommy, there are words there, you can read them!" followed by "go ahead mommy, you can read it" But reading the story was such a beautiful reminder to me of what it means to be a parent and how just when we think we have given all we can give, there will always be something left that we can give, something that they need. And even if it doesn't seem like much, it's enough. So if this wasn't enough, each time I read the part where it says "And the tree was happy" Eileen (being in her 'why' stage) would ask "why was the tree happy?" And I would get all teary telling her that it made the tree happy to be able to help the boy because she loved the boy, just like mommy loves her and loves to make her happy. And just the way Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to be happy. AHHHHH life is good. :)

Home Again

Well after a long weekend without Dan, the kids and I are all very excited to welcome him home. He spent his weekend down in Austin, TX with the high school wrestling team. His team walked away with a girl who got 3rd and a girl who got 4th. Now he is back and we are all grateful to have him home. We welcomed him home with a pirate cooking party! The Walkers came over to see Aaron, and they stayed for dinner, where the kids dressed as "pirates" and cooked dinner. So here are our little "Cookie" pirates!!

Aaron's Blessing

On February 3rd Aaron was blessed with his Dad and both grandfathers in the circle. We were so glad to get to have Grandma and Grandpa Jones out visiting for the blessing, and grateful to get to see and visit with them once more before they leave on their mission.

My Attempt at blogging...

Ok, so this is my first attempt at something like this... But i think it's kind of a neat way to keep up with what is going on in the lives of people i care about, but don't get to see much. So on that note, our biggest event lately is a new addition to our family. Aaron Lloyd Jones was born on January 10th. He was the smallest yet at only 6 lb 12 oz. Eileen and Anna dote on him, and love to "help" mommy. As with most babies, he generally just sleeps right now, but he is a sweetie, and we are so glad to have him in our family!
